The expansion of graduate school opportunities for Posse Alumni is a testament to Posse’s growing reputation for excellence among institutions of higher education. Below is a list of graduate schools that offer scholarships along with stipends and other forms of financial aid to support graduate study for Posse Alumni.

Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management and School of Law

The Kellogg School of Management and Northwestern School of Law are each offering up to two graduate scholarships to Posse Alumni who are accepted into the full-time M.B.A. or J.D. programs. The law school scholarship covers full tuition, while the business school will provide at least half tuition. Northwestern’s business and law schools are among the highest ranked and most competitive graduate programs in the world. The Kellogg M.B.A. and the Northwestern J.D. are degrees that command respect in an array of industries and will connect you with a worldwide network of more than 50,000 alumni.

DEADLINES:

  • Kellogg First Round: October 15, 2009. Second Round: January 14, 2010. Third Round: March 4, 2010.
  • Northwestern Law Early Decision: December 1, 2009. Regular Decision: February 15, 2010.

The University of Washington

The University of Washington (UW) has expanded its existing fellowship opportunity at the Evans School of Public Affairs to include programs in the College of Education, School of Social Work and the Information School. In addition to full tuition, the award also includes a monthly stipend and health benefits for two academic years. There will be up to five UW Posse fellowships available for 2009-2010. The Education School requires recipients to participate in a teaching, research or staff assistantship during their second year in order to be eligible for the full-tuition waiver. All programs offer a rich and rigorous curriculum, an engaged and accomplished faculty, highly motivated students, and are committed to improving the quality of public and nonprofit service. Last year’s recipient of the Posse graduate fellowship to UW’s public affairs program was Jeyson Florez, DePauw Posse 4 (Chicago).

COLLEGE OF EDUCATION

Five divisions/programs of study: Curriculum and Instruction, Educational Leadership & Policy Studies, Educational Psychology, Special Education, and Teacher Education Program: Master’s in Teaching & Teacher Certification.
DEADLINE: January 8

INFORMATION SCHOOL

Focuses on, but is not limited to, technology, research, teaching, service, and leadership.
DEADLINE: February 1

THE EVANS SCHOOL OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS

Emphasizes broad-based fundamentals in policy analysis and management.
DEADLINE: January 15

SCHOOL OF SOCIAL WORK

Students can tailor programs to concentrate on certain aspects of the primary methods of practice such as: administration, community-centered integrative practice, direct/Interpersonal practice, or policy practice with a specific population or social issue.

Northeastern University

Northeastern’s M.B.A. program is in its second year of offering one scholarship to a Posse Alumna/us who is accepted into their full-time M.B.A. program, which is known for its strength in global management and close ties with the business community. The program features a six-month corporate residency with a top-notch business firm, providing students opportunities to actively manage important projects and interact directly with executives. Applicants will be evaluated on their work experience, demonstrated leadership ability, academic background and personal qualities. Ramon Castillo, DePauw Posse 1 (New York), was the first recipient of the Posse graduate scholarship to Northeastern University.

President Obama Donates Portion of Nobel Peace Prize Money to Posse

The Posse Foundation is one of only 10 organizations selected by President Barack Obama to receive a portion of the president’s $1.4 million Nobel Peace Prize award money. News that Posse will receive a generous gift of $125,000 came via a White House announcement. Read More

Mount Holyoke, Penn, UCLA Join Posse, Bucknell Expands Partnership
