Scholars Compete at Annual Summer Olympics

Summer 2016 | Houston

In June, weeks before the cauldron was lit in Rio, Posse Houston Scholars celebrated the fourth annual Summer Olympics at Hermann Park. Scholars, their families, Posse staff and alumni participated in a day of friendly competition and team building.

Olympians competed in events that included water relays, dancing, seed spitting and elbow tag. University of Virginia Scholars emerged victorious from the famed Tug-of-War competition that concludes the games each year.

The Summer Olympics is a unique opportunity for Scholars to get to know other Posses from Houston, meet alumni, and celebrate the successes of the previous school year.

“The Summer Olympics was a great event,” says Dan Pickering, the chair of the Posse Houston Advisory Board. “I saw nothing but smiles and Posse Love out there!”
