Posse Houston celebrates newest Scholars at 2017 Awards Ceremony.

Posse Houston Welcomes Wellesley College, Concludes 2016 DAP Season

Winter 2017 | Houston

In the fall of 2016, Posse Houston began recruiting for its newest partner, Wellesley College. A leading liberal arts college for women, Wellesley is Houston’s second STEM Program partner, after Texas A&M University, and the 11th STEM partner nationally. The first Wellesley Posse will matriculate this fall and graduate in 2021, prepared to make meaningful personal and professional contributions to the world.

In addition to Texas A&M University, Wellesley College joins Bryn Mawr College, Carleton College, Colby College, University of Texas at Austin and University of Virginia as a Posse Houston partner school.

Posse Houston received over 1,200 nominations during the 2016 Dynamic Assessment Process (DAP) season. Nominees came from a strong pool of nominating partners that include every high school in the Houston Independent School District, as well as high schools in Aldine, Alief, Fort Bend, Spring Branch and Tomball Independent School Districts and over 40 community-based organizations.

Volunteers for this year’s DAP included Posse alumni, advisory board and leadership council members, posse staff, and many return volunteers. Space for the process was once again generously donated by Tudor, Pickering, Holt, & Co.

In January, 70 new Scholars were awarded four-year full-tuition leadership scholarships and began their pre-college training, which will prepare them to take on leadership roles on campus.
