Deloitte, CBRE Prepare Scholars for Career Success

Summer 2016 | Los Angeles

Deloitte and CBRE each hosted summer career events for Posse Los Angeles Scholars, providing valuable perspectives and advice about professionalism and personal branding.

At Deloitte, Jim Moffatt, the CEO of global consulting, spoke about the importance of following your passion when beginning your career. T’Shaka Lee, a partner at Deloitte and member of the Posse Los Angeles Advisory Board, and Monique Cadle, a consultant for Deloitte and Posse alumna, led Scholars through networking sessions and workshops that included honing a compelling “elevator pitch.”

“I learned the importance of having a mentor and the benefits of connecting with experienced professionals in your field,” says Scholar Will Samayoa, a sophomore at Hobart and William Smith Colleges.

CBRE offered thoughtful perspectives on how personal branding affects professional development. A highlight of the event was a presentation in which J. Crew employees modeled professional attire for various industries and discussed best practices. Scholars had additional opportunities to practice their elevator pitches in addition to learning how to leverage their social media presence for networking and professional promotion.

Career Program events at industry-leading businesses such as Deloitte and CBRE provide vital opportunities for Posse Scholars to acquire and develop the skills and connections they need to be successful leaders in the workforce.
