Babson Scholar Chosen as Commencement Speaker

Summer 2015 | New York

Cheska Mauban, a 2015 graduate of Babson College, was selected as the undergraduate student commencement speaker. A business management major with a concentration in economics, Cheska spoke to her fellow graduates about the challenges and rewards of making difficult decisions.

“As we walk down different paths, we will often find ourselves in that liminal space of decision,” said Cheska. “We will have the opportunity and the responsibility to make decisions that will radiate across oceans and borders. Let us bring forth the values of good character and good judgement that have been ingrained in us over the past four years.”

A native of the Philippines and raised in Queens, New York, Cheska was encouraged to study abroad by a Babson alumna, a decision that transformed her undergraduate experience and world view. She spent five months in Germany and traveled to more than 15 countries with some of her Posse members.

“Without Posse I would not have been able to attend Babson and challenge myself academically, nor have the opportunity to go abroad,” says Cheska.

Cheska credits Posse for her great support system throughout her time at Babson, successful internship opportunities recommended by fellow Posse alumni, and her drive to achieve.

She returns to New York this summer to begin her career in sales and trading with the credit and special situations group at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
