670 Students Win $108 Million in Scholarships

Spring 2014 | National

In January, The Posse Foundation welcomed 670 new Scholars at Awards Ceremonies in nine cities across the country. These talented young leaders distinguished themselves from the more than 15,000 students who were nominated for the Posse Scholarship.

Posse’s top-tier college and university partners awarded the new Scholars four-year, full-tuition scholarships worth $108 million.

Among the new Scholars are 20 veterans of the United States Armed Forces who will attend Vassar College and Wesleyan University as part of the Posse Veterans Program. These young men and women comprise Vassar’s second Veterans Posse and the inaugural Posse for Wesleyan.

Hundreds of guests—families, Posse board and staff members, college and university officials, teachers, corporate sponsors and Posse alumni—attended ceremonies in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, New Orleans, New York and Washington, D.C. to celebrate the accomplishments of the newest Scholars, who will complete Posse’s comprehensive Pre-Collegiate Training Program before matriculating in the fall.

For over 25 years, Posse has identified, recruited and trained more than 5,500 Scholars who have collectively won $687 million in merit-based scholarships from the nation’s top colleges and universities.
