133 New York Scholars Awarded Full-Tuition College Scholarships

Spring 2016 | New York

At Awards Ceremonies held over three nights in January, Posse New York’s 13 partner colleges and universities awarded 133 talented Scholars four-year, full-tuition scholarships worth more than $24 million. The newest class of Scholars, selected from nearly 3,700 nominated students, will join a community of more than 550 New York Scholars already on campus.

The Awards Ceremony marks the beginning of a Posse Scholar’s journey to college graduation. Before family, friends, representatives from Posse partner colleges, donors, Posse board and staff members, and volunteers, the Class of 2020 was welcomed to the Posse community.

In one of the most emotional portions of the ceremony, Scholars and members of their families addressed the audience to acknowledge the people and hard work that contributed to their achivement.

In the fall, after completing eight months of Pre-Collegiate Training, new Scholars will matriculate at Babson College, Brandeis University, DePauw University, Dickinson College, Franklin & Marshall College, Lafayette College, Lawrence University, Middlebury College, Smith College, Trinity College, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Vanderbilt University and Wheaton College.

Posse New York is grateful to the Ford Foundation and to BNP Paribas for providing space for this year’s award ceremonies, and to event sponsor AB.
