A member of the newest class of Posse Scholars, Alfredo Duque, Lawrence Posse 4, is a senior at Newcomers High School, an academy for recent immigrants in Long Island City, New York. Since immigrating to the United States three years ago from Mexico, Alfredo has excelled both academically and socially and is today an active member of student government, an athlete on the volleyball team and a burgeoning saxophone player. He was recently featured on CNN in a story about the success of Newcomers High School.
