Critical to the success of the Posse Program is a strong Posse-University relationship. The University Program works to ensure the retention of Posse Scholars and to increase the impact of the Scholars and the Program on the campus. Each university works with Posse to adapt the Posse Program to its campus. Posse staff members visit each university every semester to hold meetings with Posse Scholars and to speak with a university liaison designated by the university. Posse staff also visits an on-campus mentor chosen jointly by Posse staff and the university. The mentor meets with Posse Scholars as a team each week and with individual Scholars every two weeks during their first two years. The mentor is often a graduate student, faculty member, or staff person at the university. Each spring, Posse hosts a weekend-long PossePlus retreat with members from the larger student body with the goal of discussing an important campus issue selected by Posse Scholars. Posses encourage greater interaction between a university's administration and student body.
